Q&A: Video Editing Reels : What are the copyright laws?
Question by yourpastlifelover: Video Editing Reels : What are the copyright laws?
I’m fairly new to the digital editing thing, and some of my better work is with the music videos I’ve created using movie clips and popular songs for which I’ve paid for the materials but don’t actually have any distribution rights. Is it ever okay to put these in my reels for prospective employers to view in private interviews, or is that always a no-no?

What you are telling would fall within the purview of “Fair- Use”. of a copyrighted material. You have even paid for the copyrighted material and you are using it for private, non-commercial purpose.
