How Many Real Hip Hop and Music Fans Have This Same Beef About Hammer? I’m Just Being Real?

Question by lowertheboom: How Many Real Hip Hop and Music Fans Have This Same Beef About Hammer? I’m Just Being Real?
you know what? I was watching Mc Hammer do a guest appearance on an MTV awards show hosted by Diddy(on YouTube). I was so hyped to see him on tv performing for the first time since I don’t know when. Then I took a look at all the superstars in the crowd. They were lookin at Hammer as if he was beneath them. It pissed me off. They looked at him like a clown. Well except for like Puffy, Wyclef,Black Eye Peas, and Jon Legend. But Jay-Z, Beyonce, Usher (of all people), Alicia Keys, all look at him like WTF ?? It just amazes me how little respect he gets to this day. I wanted to slap everyone of them and say, ” Do you know that he was the first true main stream rapper (something that he called a sell-out for but rappers go mainstream much quicker now than ever .Jay-Z and Big were mainstream among many others) ? He paved the way you to get endorsement contracts as a rapper (which HE was called a sellout for doing- now hiphop artist endorse Sprite, McDonalds, KFC). He was one of the original members of Death Row (not alot of people know that). He made the party song before it was called that? grr, it angered me so much. Because I watch BET awards and Hip Hop Source awards and they have NEVER ask him to perform on any of them even though there was a time when he nearing MJ’s startosphere and could arguably have challegened MJ for title of best entertainer during that small window of time. Its pisses me off that he was crucified for doing the very things that rappers do today to get paid such as – endorse products, become main stream, have fun in his songs. How dare he have fun in his songs and dance? Kid N Play anyone? New Boyz? Souja Boy? Bow Wow? Huey – Pop Lock and Drop it?Lean wit it, Rock wit it? Lil Jon and The Eastside Boyz?? It also angers me that alot of people try to point at his financial losses as a reason to diss him. Please, I can’t point to many legends who had to file bankruptcy for just blowing their money starting with Michael Jackson, or star athletes such as Antoine Walker or Michael Vick. Sorry I had to get that off my chest…. what is your opinions? I am just trying to be real here.
Edit: small correction on my part, but I guess you could say that Run DMC had the first crossover appeal.
ooohh so badd- I feel you so much sister, for real I do! I could go on and on like you! For real I could! Yeah I peeped though videos and stuff about jay-z and his songs that sound demonic. After hearing it for myself, I was taken aback, and I have not listened to another purchased another Jay-Z album since.
just to add= Hammer did songs like, “Pray”. Jay-Z did songs like Lucifer…..hmmmm

I didn’t see this but I totally feel you. People now-a-days, surprisingly these artists included, fail to realise that hip-hop today can’t hold a candle to the music back in the days. Sadly, not only Hammer, but hardly any of the old school rappers get much shine nor respect. These singers are so arrogant that they all think they’re the best, and that has proven to be dangerous (all artists thinking they’re poppin.) They think that if it ain’t new, it ain’t cool. Alicia and Beyonce have SOME NERVE looking down on ANY old school artist. If I could only name the singers from back then that they CAN’T TOUCH, there would be no more space in this box. Usher??? Eww. No comment. He has gotten soooo WHACK. He should team up with Hammer instead of looking down at anybody. Jay Z? I have no time for camel-faced devil worshipers….
