I’m curious and I’ve never seen any numbers on it–how many conservatives opposes gay marriage?

Question by tylertxanreborn: I’m curious and I’ve never seen any numbers on it–how many conservatives opposes gay marriage?
because they don’t want the government to redefine a term that has meant the union of a man and a woman since recorded history–but DO NOT oppose gay unions, or gay contracts or some other term which gives the same basic rights as married couples have.

Personally i don’t believe in being politcally correct and redefining a word to be politcally correct–but I personally think gays should have a law and a term which gives them the same rights. Doesn’t make me a homophobe–just makes me someone who doesn’t wish to redefine words in our laws. Sounds too 1984 ish to me. Would that be precedent for defining murder for example as everything but offing a nasty ex spouse? Give a precedent for redefining words and you can make the constitution say whatever you want it too.
