need to quickly create an llc to land a contract that needs to be closed by next week!?

Question by hiseyc101: need to quickly create an llc to land a contract that needs to be closed by next week!?
So, my friends and I have worked in IT for quite some time now. We have plenty of technical skills but unfortunately we have no formal business experience.
A very large global textile producer wants to outsource a portion of their IT dept. and we would like to start an llc to take on that contract. We have actually been planning this for some time and we have several small clients that we have been handling under the table but we are ready to turn this into a fully legal business and get contracts in place etc…
My understanding is that I need to get 1.) our name copyrighted or at least find some way to protect it legally within the next week 2.) get a tax ID 2.) form this llc 3.) get contracts drawn up.
Any good resources on how to rush this stuff? It isn’t how we ideally wanted to do this but opportunity is knocking and I’m not gonna sit by and let our opportunity pass.
Any advice for just getting the basics in place?
sorry for the terrible grammar, spelling, and numbering. Just really in a hurry.

Contact your State Government, they control the names for LLC, and dictate many of the regulations. Some states have alot on their websites, that can be done on-line. I highly suggest you find a lawyer to do this for you, if you want to be successful and have not done this before. It is well worth the investment . I’m in the midst of doing this myself. You are not going to have this done by next week. If you do things quickly it will take at minimum of two weeks, and probably a month. Have several names made up…it will save time. You also need to layout how the LLC will work, voting rights, responsibiltiies, etc….every state has a document. Naming the LLC is the easiest part….
