I am looking at learning how to make my own beats. I am interested in techno/ rave music mostly with a possibility of doing hip hop. Also is there any other equipment that I need besides the midi keyboard and software?

Akai makes great MIDI keyboards. M-AUDIO is a popular choice as well, but I’ve heard bad things about “sticky keys” with their Axiom series.
