Question by leisl: What steps would one take to break into the music promoting & booking industry?
Specifically, I am interested in leaving my current career. I would like to learn more about approachign the Booking Agent or Music Management field. Any recommendations for start-up. I was advised by a Booking Agent to intern first. I am currently working full-time.

You can intern, but you won’t earn any money, so you probably can’t quit your day job.

What I see around my area, is people starting their own agency’s. They go to bars and clubs and ask them if they can book them shows. If they agree, you’re responsible for getting local acts to play their. There’s not much money in it…. and I think the lady around my area that does it, does it for friends.
