What’s included in a $1 Million record deal contract?
Published December 3, 2010
Question by ChayTresPaych: What’s included in a Million record deal contract?
I’ve heard rap artists talk about how they got a $ 1 million record deal, does that money go STRAIGHT to the artist? or is that money used for production budgets, touring money, etc? How much does the artist actually get?

They deduct everything from the contract amount. Even the cost of the pen used to sign the contract, every second of studio time and anything else they can charge back to the artist. The artist is lucky to see 10% at the end.
