When should I receive my contract of employment?

Question by Mrs Prop: When should I receive my contract of employment?
I work in catering. 5 months ago the company that I worked lost the contract and we were TUPE’d over to a new company. I haven’t as yet received any form of contract from them. Am I entitled to a new contract? And if so is there a time limit by which I should have been given one?

Yes, you should have a contract BEFORE any work is undertaken or from a legal stand-point (wages, insurance etc) you have nothing to rely on.

It may be the case than your old contact is withstanding, but definately check asap.

The HR department should be able to show you a copy of your contract (or give you a new one) at any time.

I suggest asking immediately.

good luck
